2021 4-H BC Special Topic Educational Display Contest Winners

“Healthy Habits” was the theme for the 2021 Special Topic Educational Display Contest, delivered in partnership with AgSafe. This year, members from the Fraser Valley Region took top prizes in the competition which was hosted fully online.
Thank you to AgSafe for sponsorship of the contest and delivery of the webinar, and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Fisheries for staff support in delivering the program. Congratulations to all 4-H members for their excellent research, displays and participation in this program.
The contest theme focused on developing Healthy Habits to create a culture of health and safety at home, in 4-H and on the farm. Participants developed educational displays around topics such as safe animal handling techniques, farm equipment safety, self-care, staying safe at work and at play, improving mental health, and planning for safe outdoor activities. In addition to creating a Healthy Habits display board, all 49 participants were invited to participate in a webinar with AgSafe on August 23. Presenters Melissa Lacroix, Barb Friesen, Lennea Durant, and Lucas Hildebrand from Ag Safe introduced participants to toolbox safety talks, hazard assessments, and right and responsibilities of young workers. Participants were given a chance to enter a draw for a bonus prize by completing a real-life hazard assessment of their home, work, or farm following the webinar.
