4-H BC Foundation AGM

4-H BC Foundation News

The 4-H BC Foundation AGM was held Friday, April 14th, in the Boardroom at Terralink Horticulture in Abbotsford.  After 10 years at the helm, Gordon Bryant retired from the board as Foundation President.  Also retiring was Doug Haughton, Vice President.

We want to express our sincerest appreciation to Gordon and Doug for their dedication and leadership.  As a result of their hard work, the Foundation now sits with assets of more than $1.5 Million and was able to disburse back to 4-H BC Provincial Council over $82,000 in 2022.

Matt Thurston, CEO of Terralink Horticulture Inc., was welcomed to the board as the newest trustee. Matt graciously accepted the nomination as 4-H BC Foundation President and was named President by acclamation.  Joining Matt in Foundation board leadership are Natalie Veles, Vice President, and Tony De Groot, Treasurer.

The new 4-H BC Foundation board looks to the future with optimism, and thanks past and current supporters for their belief in the importance of 4-H BC in supporting youth to reach their full potential.

Welcome the New 4-H BC Foundation Trustee!

Matt Thurston

Matt Thurston is the current CEO of TerraLink Horticulture Inc., having taken up the role in 2022. He holds an agriculture degree from the University of Guelph, which has helped him build a career in the agricultural industry. Prior to joining TerraLink, Matt gained extensive experience in agricultural banking, having worked for FCC and BMO.

Aside from his professional life, Matt enjoys spending time operating his orchard in Lake Country with his partner, Molly, and their two boys, Angus and Garnet.  Matt also enjoys the outdoors, and he plays hockey during the winter and golf during the summer months. He hopes to one day introduce his boys to the world of 4H and help them develop a love for agriculture, just like him.
