4-H BC Spring 2021 Newsletter

Goodbye Winter! Hello Spring!

Winter season has presented us with valuable educational opportunities that we will be carrying out throughout the year and share our gained knowledge with the 4-H community.

In the end of January 4-H BC office participated in the Pacific Agriculture Show 2021 - Virtual Edition. This year’s show was definitely different… but the response from the entire Ag community had been really supportive and it helped to shape up a great venue to stay in touch until life gets back to normal. The show featured over 140 exhibitors and 45 sponsors, showcasing the latest agriculture equipment and services digitally! This was a great opportunity to drop in online and visit and connect with suppliers, colleagues and friends.

Also at the end of January, we kicked off the Gator Lottery. This year brought some changes to our lottery. PrairieCoast Equipment generously donated one Gator as our grand prize. Through contributions from other partners, such as Save-On-Foods, we now have a total of five prizes available to be won. The biggest change was that we moved from paper tickets to online ticket sales. Participating clubs have the potential to receive more funds than ever before. This also allows us to hold the lottery as an annual event. Can’t wait to see what prizes, in addition to the Gator, that we will have next year!

Finally, we are excited to be hosting Agri-Career Quest virtually May 13th-16th. Over the course of the program, delegates will experience a multitude of careers within the agrifood sector, meet with industry professionals, and develop important skills that will be helpful on their career journeys.

Wishing you a bright, warm, and beautiful Spring!
