COVID-19 Update - August 25, 2021

Starting on August 25th, masks are required in all public indoor settings in British Columbia for all people 12 years of age and up. This includes:

Community centres

Recreation centres
-
Inside schools
Face Mask Exemptions:
-
People with health conditions or with physical, cognitive or mental impairments who cannot wear one

People who cannot remove a mask on their own
-
Children under the age of 12

People who need to remove their masks to communicate due to another person's hearing impairment
A face shield is not a substitute for a mask as it has an opening below the mouth.
Additional restrictions for the Interior Health Region went into effect Monday August 23rd:

Indoor personal gatherings are limited to ten guests or one other household

Outdoor personal gatherings are limited to no more than 50 people
-
Organized indoor gatherings are limited to 50 people, and outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 people, both requiring a COVID-19 safety plan.
The BC Provincial Government also announced on August 23rd that proof of vaccination will be required to access some events, services and businesses. The requirement is in place until January 31, 2022, subject to extension. Included are:

Indoor organized gatherings, such as conference, meetings and workshops

Indoor organized group recreational classes and activities like pottery and art
Key principles of the PHO are:

Maximum capacity for indoor organized gatherings of 50 people or up to 50% of a venue’s total capacity, whichever is greater; - Except the Interior Health Region (see above)

Maximum capacity for outdoor organized gatherings of 5,000 people or up to 50% of a venue’s total capacity, whichever is greater;

Respect local travel advisories to isolated and remote communities and Indigenous communities;

Respect personal space and practice good hygiene, including frequent handwashing;
-
If you or anyone in your family feels sick stay home and get tested immediately.
