Field to Fork Challenge 2022

Prizes 

Field to Fork Challenge participants have the opportunity to develop their cooking skills and learn about BC agriculture and food, and the chance to: 

  • Win 1 of 40 Cash Prizes (Totalling $6,400): There are 10 cash prizes available in 4 categories – 1st place $400; 2nd place $300; 3rd place $200; and 4th to 10th place $100 each.  

  • Get Recipes Published: Top placing entrant’s recipes will be published in-print and online in the 2022 Field to Fork Challenge Recipe Book 

  • Attend a Fun Virtual Event: Top-placing entrants will be invited to the Field to Fork Challenge Virtual Conference, taking place on January 14, 2023. Attendees will cook a selection of BC grown dishes under the instruction of BCAITC Chef Trevor Randle, enjoy virtual farm tours, and learn about BC agriculture from experts in the field. 

Entry Categories 

  1. 4-H BC Junior Members (born 2009-2012) – Enter June 17 to September 30, 2022 

  1. 4-H BC Senior Members (born 2002-2008) – Enter June 17 to September 30, 2022 

  1. BC Junior-Level Students (grades 4-7) – Enter June 17 to November 9, 2022 

  1. BC Senior-Level Students (grades 8-12) – Enter June 17 to November 9, 2022 

Winners will be selected based on recipe choices, use of BC ingredients, evidence of thorough study, food and kitchen safety, and presentation. 

Teaching Youth to Cook Local  

The past two years Field to Fork Challenges were a huge success! Participants had a chance to learn where their food comes from, how to cook with locally grown foods, and why farms and agriculture play such an important role in our communities and society. The participants showcased their food passions with an amazing array of delicious BC grown recipes such as Swiss Chard and Beef Quiche, Lemon Dill Lamb Kabobs with Tzatziki, BC Heirloom Tomato Tart, BC Blueberry Skillet Cake, and Honey Peach Pie.
