  • 4‑H clubs create their own annual calendars, but all members participate in six core opportunities:

    • Club Business Meetings:
Members run their own meetings using Parliamentary Procedure, taking on roles such as president, treasurer, and other leadership positions.

    • Communications:
Youth build public speaking and presentation skills through speeches, demonstrations, Speak and Show, and educational displays, with opportunities to advance from club to provincial competitions.

    • Judging:
Members learn to think critically, compare options, and justify decisions through hands‑on judging. Clubs offer judging days where members practice and compete at district events.

    • Project Work:
Each member completes a project aligned with their interests. Projects are divided into units based on the details of the animal or item involved, or by the member’s skill level.

    • Safety Education:
Safety training is integrated throughout the year to ensure responsible participation in all project areas.

    • Achievement Day:
Clubs host an annual event recognizing members’ progress toward goals set at the beginning of the year. Achievement Day showcases project work, informs the community about 4‑H, and thanks leaders and sponsors for their support.

  • Participation for the year costs $125.00. This includes your enrolment fee, attending club meetings and events.

Additional fees may apply at the Club Level.

  • The 4-H program is designed to offer learning and growing opportunities at each age.

Cloverbud (Age 6-8): 4-H Cloverbud members must have reached their 6th birthday and have not reached their 9th birthday by midnight December 31 of the previous year. Cloverbud members are only allowed to be registered in the Cloverbud project and are not eligible to be enrolled in any other 4-H BC projects. Cloverbud projects focus on fun, teamwork, and variety rather than competition.

Youth (Age 9-19): All 4-H members will complete between 1 and 4 projects per year. 4-H projects are an important part of the 4-H experience as they create hands-on learning opportunities. 4-H BC has over 30 different projects to choose from.

Senior (Age 20-21): Members wishing to continue in 4-H may enroll in Senior Project Management, Senior Self-Determined Project or Junior Leadership. These members are encouraged to try and advanced agriculture project, explore something new, test their skills as a junior leader, and give back to their 4-H club.

  • Over the year 4-H members will complete a project. Depending on the member’s interests and the projects currently being offered in the club, the project can range from raising and animal, to growing a garden, to creating a photographic display.

Each project is broken down into units. In some projects the units are defined by the details of the animal or item of focus.

In other projects the units are determined by the skill level of the member and the project. You will find these requirements in the specific regulations for each project.
