4-H BC Partners with UBC Sauder School of Business, and We Need Our Alumni

We’re excited to share that 4-H BC has been selected for the UBC Sauder School of Business Master of Management Community Business Project. This September through November, a team of graduate business students will work alongside 4-H BC staff to research and develop strategies that will help secure the future of 4-H programming in British Columbia.

4-H has been building confident, capable young leaders in BC for over 100 years. Today we serve nearly 2,000 youth members supported by more than 550 volunteer leaders in over 100 clubs across the province. Like many non-profits, we’re working hard to build a sustainable funding future, and this partnership with UBC gives us access to fresh thinking, rigorous research, and the energy of a talented student team.

Here’s where you come in. A key part of the project is a survey of 4-H alumni. In 2022, a national survey found that 4-H alumni credit the program with developing skills they use every day: public speaking, leadership, responsibility, and teamwork, to name a few. Now we want to hear from BC’s alumni community specifically. What did 4-H mean to you? How has it shaped your life, your career, your community involvement?

To make sure the survey reaches as many alumni as possible, we’re rebuilding our alumni contact list, and we need your help.

You’re a 4-H alum if you participated in 4-H for four or more years. It doesn’t matter which province you participated in, and it doesn’t matter where you live now. If you grew up in BC’s clubs and moved away, or grew up in 4-H elsewhere and now call BC home, you belong on this list.
